Coke and Mentos rockets I 've got the movie of the rocket up on You tube , so here's a link to see it. Also, a link to dad's blog to hear more about the C span trip. My mother also has a post up about C Span. Here's a link to her.
Well, at least one with a score and a zebra ref (refferees that are in uniform making the game more 'official'). We were losing 6-0 at hthe end of the first half but came back in the second with our defense really working. They got the offense set up at the Severn (the opposing team) 15. But you can count on the offense to screw it up. On the first play at 15, we scored, only to have it called back on a holding call. But we still score and tie it up, 6-6. In the fourth quarter, our defense stepped it up... again. They recovered a fumble and took it back for six from the thirty. So, we won by a defensive TD and set the school year off to a good start. In the pic,I'm the captain on the left. There's also in this post a pic from yesterday at C-span.
Coke and mentos rockets! Today I got to do a really great experiment. Instead of doing a geyser out of coke and mentos... we did a rocket. It shot about a hundred feet up into the air and the diva got it on film(sorta). I did the experiment with a different soda (diet rally) and found that it doesn't work as well. But the Coke worked fine.
C-Span My mom was on C-Span debating with another woman about "Plan B" drug that 'prevents' uninintended pregnancies. Yeah, right. Pro-choice people just want to sell a baby killing drug..... over the counter. But it gets worse; they want to make it available to people under 15! So my mom went out there to show 'em who's boss. Nearing the end of the debate, the other woman, Jatrice something-or-other, accused my mom of witchcraft. I forget the context but she had accused my mom of witchcraft.
Today we had our first preseason game/scrimmage. I got to QB(which My dad got one play one tape), play Middle Linebacker, and center. I asked coach if I could play QB at the beginning of the game and he said "I don't know. If we can't get another center then there's no way you can play." That day, a kid from the stepped up to play center because he was to big for the 85 pound team(he didn't play center to start the game because he didn't know the plays). And our first team QB decided to run his mouth off at everyone, so, I got to play QB. In the pic, I'm the kid on the far left with white skin and dark blue shirt. The RB is the one with his back facing you and is about to score.
Cooke and Mentos Today I finally got to do the "Coke and Mentos Experiment". It was great. Right before we filmed, my family went swimming in our pool. Dad wanted something to drink so he picked up the unopened Coke and drank some. But the project still went smoothly. So, how do like the robe, er, lab coat? I should have a link to the video of the geyser soon. Okay, got it. here's a link to Youtube to see the video.
Bad scrimmage Last Saturday, we had our first football scrimmage of the season. It went awful. The front line didn't block, the running backs danced instead of ran,the wide receivers didn't catch. It was a definite bummer. After the game we had been told that we played well... for the first time this season. And we played well because the other team goes by age not weight; but they did have a weight limit. 140. It was really amazing. I mean, our age limit is only 115. So we did all right. It was killer to see a giant monster right in front of us about to pound me as soon as we hike the ball(I play center). It was like standing in front of a freight train.
Fireworks MX It wasn't as easy as it looks; putting up a custom template; actually, it's not a template, but a picture. First, you had edit your pictire down to what you want by using Fireworks(which is amazing). Then put that picture in an empty post without any position(none). Now you have to click on Edit Html, cut the picture(in word form)it should look like this: src="http://photos1blogger.com/blogger/577/2303/320/picture name picture description>"
Or something like that. You will have to write in the img src= part sometimes. So, I hope this helped.
Custom template Finally, I got my custom template up. Well, not exactly. But it does look like something I would do. Mom helped me get started, but I finished it. Now if only I could get the right colors....
College Last night my mother came in and said,"Dude (she didn't say dude, she used my name), I've decided you can't go to 7th grade a year early." I was appalled. "And why can't I???!!!" I yell. She puts on a puppy dog face and says, "I don't want you to leave for college a year early." Typical mom. But, course, I felt bad; "It's okay mom; I'll have enough money from playing pro football, a year early, so you and dad can move close to my mansion, er, house"
WOOHHOOO!! Goin' to seventh Well Grace Christian school called today and... I'm going to seventh grade. I went nuts. I jumped up and down, shouted, danced around baby boo, made my older sister wonder if we were actually related, you know that stuff. I asked my mother if they had called yet; she said "yes"; I said "and...", she said "what", dad said, "yes, John of course you're in".
Just a signature!!?? I just came from the MVA to get my ID card for football. It took three hours to get my ID. On the way home my sister tells me, "John, we waited three hours just for that, that, signature!!??" "No" I say, " a laminated signature." But I suppose it's worth it to play football.
Done testing Whew! Done with all of the testing! It was kind of easy but not 3rd grade work. The math I thought was okay, but I'm really not good at language. They had some hand-eye coordination which was very hard; you had to copy lines and stars and cubes and things like that.
Testing into 7th Right now I'm headed to Grace Christian for some testing to see if I can make it to7th. I'm praying that I'll do well and that the Diva, the Dreamer, and the Dancer would do outstanding!
Tennis Today, my two older sisters are going to play tennis, and by accident I also was signed up. It's not that I don't like tennis; It's more like I really don't like the coaches. Although, we play at the Fairland Aquatics center(or something like that) so it is fun to play tennis in the dome/bubble.
'Skins scrimmage I can't believe I missed the 'skins scrimmage! Before we left for church this morning, I read in yesterdays paper that there would be a pre-season scrimmage at Fed-Ex field. So we came home, jumped onto the couch, found the remote, and turned on the tv. That's when we saw todays paper with a front-page story of the Redskins vs. Ravens scrimmage. That's also when I realized that I had picked up yesterdays paper instead of todays. Oh well; at least the Eagles are going to whip the Raiders tonight.
Pictures I finally found a few of the pics I had "lost". They were on my mom's computer. Here's some picture of the geek squad being here, the big 18 wheeler, and a wasp nest: "search and destroy" team. Okay, never mind. They are still "lost".
Football equipment Today I finally got my football equipment. Big, bulky, but protective. The coaches there were working real hard so that everyone that needed anything could get in and out in 10, 15, minutes. I got my stuff before dad could fill out the paperwork. The coaches were doing so well, on their own free time, dad and I had to thank them. They were really pleased when we bought them all drinks. You know, coaches really like it when someone tells them they're doing a good job, or when someone says that they're aprecciated; yeah, coaches really like that.
The "Alien" The same day we had Geek Squad come in, A big 14 wheeler truck pulled up alongside the house and dropped off a big box. It might have been a secret treasure, a top-secret military plan, or ... any regular Eliptical Trainer. We nicknamed it "the Alien" because the first letters in eliptical trainer (E.T.) spell out that wierd glowy thumb alien. It was pretty big too; It wasn't very easy hauling down the 10 parts down 2 flights of stairs(especially the last big part of the bike). It was really fun setting it together(of course the payment of 10$ helped make it fun too).
Geek Squad Wow. Geek sguad knows alot. We had someone in to fix one of dads giant new computer monitors. Got it done before we could thank him. So next time you have computer probs; Geek squad is what I'd recommend.
Food Dye No way. What seemed like a harmless project turned out to be a huge catastrophe. We were making a few salt dough creations, and left them to dry overnight. While we were at tennis camp, James, adorable, two year-old, menace; got blue food dye(from our salt dough), well, everywhere. So we get home with applications for a new school, and Dad says, "Oh, yeah. You guys have to get all this cleaned up."Well, it could be worse.
It's HOT!! Sure, Summeer is fun and warm and shady. But not 108 degrees Fahrenheit(I spelled that without the computer!!). They (actually, the county)canceled football, tennis, swimming, everything. Man!! I'm getting hot just writing about it. Here's a link to Weather.com to see for yourself.
Wildcats Yesterday was the start of wildcats football. I got to QB and run alot of drills. I don't know if it was better than the hurricanes, but it was great.
